QA/CQI

Vital Emergency Medical Services understands the need for on-going and closely monitored quality assurance programming. Our Medical Director,  Marc Gautreau, M.D. of the UMass Memorial Medical Center and UMass Medical School, the region’s designated trauma center, provides up-to-date medical review of all ALS transports vs. random sampling. Our Quality Assurance Nurses have significant ER and EMS backgrounds. They monitor and provide daily oversight and analysis of all medical services delivered and administered to our patients. We pride ourselves in having over 100 years of EMS operational and management experience. Our Vice President of Patient Care and Community Service has a 30 plus year history in EMS, Nursing, and Community engagement.

All health care facilities in the state are identified in our computer data base. Virtual road and traffic conditions are live. This ensures appropriate response capability. All of our new and late model response vehicles are equipped with global positioning capability. This allows our dispatch professionals a bulletproof measure of fleet accountability. Customers calling Vital EMS are given precise and accurate response times. Each scheduled appointment is confirmed daily by our customer service personnel. This unique attribute of Vital EMS assures our customers that we are aware and time sensitive of each and every patient’s medical appointment.

Our nursing focus helps us to maintain a significant awareness of the ever-changing health care community. Regulatory and insurance changes are constantly updated and administered. This provides our valued customer an assurance of complete information related to their transportation matters. Coverage grids for all insurance plans help admissions and nursing leadership ensure medical necessity and fiscal control of their medical transportation portion of patient care. Our significant experience in industry health care development gives us a keen insight into the prospective payment system.  Patient accounting services routinely provide pre-emptive alerts to customers for their decision making process. Patient accounting services are an in-house, not an out-sourced function. This important part of a complete delivery system lets us maintain accurate reporting of patient delivered services and monthly Q/A accountability to our valued customers. No other company can deliver a more comprehensive package of focused medical transportation expertise.
All necessary reporting is delivered in a manner consistent with the customer’s designated format.

Vital EMS performs patient satisfaction surveys to randomly transported clients. This value added service, when returned to the facilities’ administrative oversight department, can serve as a useful tool to qualify patient satisfaction.
Additionally, computer aided dispatch on-time reports provide our customer with a comprehensive analysis for all ambulance activity, wheelchair activity, and other quality measures as requested.
